He was a guest of Count Grignani and from the balcony of his palace in Porta Nuova, he uttered the fateful words, “ROME OR DEATH.” The many Marsala residents who gathered there, organizing celebrations worthy of his fame, were particularly captivated.
When the General tasted the famous fortified wine, already marketed throughout the world thanks to the Englishman Benjamin Ingham, he particularly appreciated the Superiore Dolce, which from that day on, in his honor, would be called GARIBALDI DOLCE.
